In this podcast, NYC-based Youth Media Forward participant Sanaa interviews soccer player John Smith Jr about his experience so far, his aspirations and his thoughts on the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
John combines high school and sports. He plays the position of goalkeeper with Westchester FC MLS Next and with the British Virgin Islands national team - “I like to call myself the leader of the back line”, he says.
“Now that the biggest tournament in the world is being hosted right in our backyard it will inspire a lot of our youth - it certainly inspires me.”
