En este video, participantes de la Iniciativa para Jóvenes Periodistas entrevistan a José Toral, periodista que trabaja en medios de comunicación en Jalisco desde 2012.
José describe la importancia de poner a las personas en el centro del periodismo. Si bien es importante visibilizar las violaciones de derechos humanos, dice, también es fundamental pensar siempre en las implicaciones para las personas afectadas.
“El principal reto es poner no tu trabajo ni tu fama ni este interés ni el de otras personas sino el de esas personas que fueron vulneradas en sus derechos… Esas personas tienen que estar al centro.”
José comparte también sus reflexiones sobre cómo las políticas públicas y los proyectos de infraestructura - incluso en el contexto del próximo Mundial, del que Guadalajara será sede de cuatro partidos - deben considerar las perspectivas y la experiencia de las mujeres, las personas con discapacidad y de niñas y niños.

In this video, Youth Media Forward participants in Guadalajara interview José Toral, a journalist who has been working in the media in Jalisco since 2012.
José emphasizes the importance of putting people at the centre of journalism. While it is important to bring human rights violations to light, he says, it is also essential to always think about the implications for the people who are affected.
