The World Cup in June and July 2026 is going to be the largest event ever hosted by the region, with people visiting from all around the World. The New York New Jersey stadium (MetLife Stadium) will host a total of eight matches, including the final.

Matt asks Moses about the transit implications for people attending and impacted by the World Cup. Their conversation comes at a time when a New Jersey Transit workers strike and air traffic control disruptions at Newark airport have spotlit transit challenges in the region.

During the conversation, Moses highlights the importance of considering multiple forms of transit - including extended bus capacity, and also the possibilities of bike and pedestrian access to the stadium, particularly as “soccer fans are used to walking to stadiums - it’s often part of the experience and could be cool if we could recreate it”.
