Podcast: Sanaa, New York New Jersey
In this podcast, NYC-based Youth Media Forward participant Sanaa interviews Ruby, a high school senior and a dancer with the Manhattan Youth Ballet.
They discuss the determination involved in ballet, what keeps Ruby going, and parallels with training in other sports such as soccer.
“Dance is so difficult to place into a category,” Ruby says;
“It is an artistic and an athletic form of expression and training. What people don’t see is the immense amount of work that goes into ballet training and how physically active you have to be - you have to have such intense stamina.”
Ruby also shares advice for aspiring dancers and looks to her own future, as she prepares to start college where she plans to double-major in dance and journalism.
