“The Influence of Babar Azam - King Can Do It”
Words: Fatima A, New York New Jersey
Piscataway team cricket captain and enthusiast Mohammad Fasiih, fresh off the field, advocates the importance of sports in communities. His number one priority is bringing together young athletes to flourish.
Mohammad started out as a young admirer of cricket, inspired by his family’s shared spirit and tradition of playing cricket. He recalls his “initial experiences and impressions” of seeing Babar Azam, an internationally renowned cricket player, win his victories and bring his country together in their support of his game.

Mohammad, fascinated by Azam’s ability and determination, was inspired to reflect that action in his own surroundings, striving to create a cricket team that strongly “resembled a community.”
His view is that by bringing together youth and engaging them in a positive and constructive activity, he can help guide young athletes to the right path and keep them out of trouble. He jokes about how “their energy will be used up during practices.”
Believing that team bonding is a core strength, Mohammad strives to form connections between his players and pushes them to be even better members of their community.
Mohammad’s energy and passion derive from his love of his country, Pakistan, and their own cricket team. His hope is to see someone from his home in the Pakistan jersey, “cheering and celebrating” on television after a win.
Mohammad regularly quotes the line “King can do it.” Beyond the humor of this line, he advocates to his players that if the “King” Babar Azam was able to do it, then so can they.
